Motiva backing Simon’s drive for success

MOTIVA Group are backing a local golf professional in his bid to return to the top tier of the game.

Simon Wakefield is desperate to win back his place on the European Tour after dropping out at the end of last year.

And the 41-year-old has now won fresh support from the fleet management and vehicle leasing specialists.

The company, based in Stoke-on-Trent, is providing Wakefield with a new car as he battles to qualify for the Race To Dubai.

The Trentham Park player is sporting the company’s logo on his shirts and bag during this season’s Challenge Tour and will play a starring role in the company’s Golf Day at Trentham Park on June 23.

Wakefield will run a special clinic at the event and will play in a ‘Beat The Pro’ competition which gives Motiva customers and guests the chance to take him on over a particular hole.

He said: “I’m really grateful to Motiva for the sponsorship.

“It’s great to have the backing of such a successful and well-established business, particularly as we’re both based in Stoke-on-Trent.

“I need to finish in the top 15 of the Challenge Tour rankings to claim a place on the main European Tour, and I’m feeling much more positive now.”

Peter Wright, sales director at Motiva Group, said: “When we found out Simon was looking for a sponsor, we were happy to step in.

“I’ve been keeping an eye on his career for many years as he’s a local lad, so it’s great that we can now offer him our support.

“As a company, we sponsor quite a number of sports teams in Stoke-on-Trent and this is another way to show we’re proud of the city’s wealth of home-grown talent.”
